About Me
I am a mechanical engineering major at the University of Maryland, College Park. In addition, I am a part of the Media, Self, and Society College Park Scholars program. I was born and raised in Parkton, MD, a small town in northern Baltimore County, and I attended Hereford High School. During my high school years I did a lot of experimenting with various classes and activities in an attempt to find what I am most passionate about. I filled my schedule with AP classes including psychology, Spanish, statistics, physics, and calculus. I also enrolled in community college my senior year and took half days at high school and then commuted to the Community College of Baltimore County in Essex. By the end of my senior year, I knew mechanical engineering was the right path for me because I found myself very interested in math and science.

That being said, I am extremely grateful for Scholars because it allowed me to choose the program that I felt was best for me. Majoring in mechanical engineering means that my schedule is packed full of heavy STEM classes, so I felt I needed an outlet for more creativity and discussion-based activities. This is the reason I chose media. Media has given me some of my best friends and a community of people that I feel comfortable reaching out to about anything. It has also given me opportunities and experiences that I could not have gotten anywhere else including Service Day, where I prepared food packages for people in need, field trips like visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and class activities that allowed me to express my creativity.

Apart from academics, I am also a part of the social sorority Sigma Kappa, which brings lots of volunteer opportunities and other experiences. Thier website can be viewed here.
